  4. CLAUSES • A group of words with both a subject and a verb: • I read in English every day. • Because I want to build my vocabulary. • There are two types of clauses: • INDEPENDENT: a complete thought or sentence • DEPENDENT: not a complete thought and cannot stand by itself.
