Pregnancy Diet Chart - Which Foods to Eat & Avoid?
Forget about the rumors concerning what to eat and avoid for pregnant women. There are people who want to frighten us from eating what we should. In this article, we will clarify the myths concerning the foods, which are not just healthy for you as an expectant mother but also that which you should steer clear from. No need to waste your time because this topic is as important as a delivery that child. What Foods to Avoid What is the reason behind some food becoming off-limits especially if you are pregnant? If you are not pregnant, that is fine. Pregnant women should avoid certain food because of the changes within their immune system and this makes them more vulnerable to food-borne diseases or illnesses. When you were not pregnant, a simple stomach upset could mean nothing. Nevertheless, the case is different for pregnant women as this could be some serious complications, which could result in dehydration or miscarriage. I know you won’t want that, so what are the common culprits of this food-borne illness? Eggs: You might be told that protein is very important but raw eggs may be contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella is a bacterium, which causes diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. During this stage, avoid restaurant made Caesar salad dressing, raw cookie dough, homemade eggnog or sunny-side up eggs. Besides this, avoid any dish where the egg (both white and yolk) are not completely cooked. Sushi: Aside from the California rolls and few cooked items, for pregnant women, sushi isn’t safe. This is because of the illness-inducing parasites it may contain. Unpasteurized Juice: Avoid any form of juice sold at the farm stands because they haven’t been pasteurized. Pasteurization is the process where toxins and bacteria are killed. However, most juice and milk purchased in stores nowadays are pasteurized. Some brands placed on shelves are not pasteurized, which is why you must read the labels when buying any juice or milk. Food to eat Enough with all the foods to avoid, the good news is that some foods aren’t forbidden; however, they are part of the pregnant women diet, which must be taken in their right proportion. Soft Cheeses: Such as Gorgonzola, feta, and Brie were regarded to be potentially harmful because they can keep listeria. Listeriosis is a disease resulting from the bacterial listeria and transferred to the fetus leading to premature delivery, miscarriage, or stillbirth. Nevertheless, the FDA has given permission for the soft cheese to be taken during pregnancy. A note of warning here, ensure you check the labels, especially with important soft cheese brands. Pregnant women living in the border state should avoid soft Mexican cheese because they are not pasteurized. Fresh Produce: Finally, veggies and fruits must be integrated into your diet, mostly during the pregnancy stage because of the high amount of fiber and vitamins they contain. However, a common sense precaution must be applied as rewash bagged lettuce washes away any trace of E. coli or salmonella. Actually, the outside of the vegetables and fruits must be washed even if the skin won’t be eaten. Author’s Bio Beatrice Samson looks at some of the foods to avoid for any pregnant women diet. She went further to make some list on vital pregnant women food, which is allowed and won’t cause miscarriage or stillbirth.
