When should we use Past Continuous tense? Plan Aim Find out: how to form Past Continuous; Learn: How to use it. Teacher: Make up the plan to answer this question! Use the words: revise and how. Pupils: 1. Revise Past Simple/Present Continuous; (how to form?, when we use?) 2. How to form Past Continuous?
«Знаю» – «не знаю». Teacher: Read the words: sewing, writing stories, skateboarding, ice-skating, knitting, collecting stamps, playing chess, boxing, fencing, football, painting, songwriting. Divide them into 2 groups: I know I don’t know Use the dictionaries to find the meanings of new words!

What is the aim of our lesson? Use the words: To find out/to tell Pupils: find out more about interesting hobbies and tell about them those friends who have no hobbies.
Проблемная ситуация Watch a video film and say what we are going to discuss today. Do you read newspapers or magazines? Do you watch TV? Do you use the internet? Do you listen to the radio? Most teenagers don’t read newspapers and magazines. They use only Internet. Why?
Teacher: Use the words “compare” and “explain” and say which aims we have today. Pupils: • Explain how important to get information from different mass media. • Compare Russian and British teens to advise to read British magazines, to watch TV programs.
Подводящий диалог Teacher: Read the theme of the lesson! A city mouse or a country mouse? Have you read the tale about 2 mice? What is the main idea of the tale? Read the headings and divide them into 2 categories:
City Country Fresh air Crowded streets Heavy traffic Constant noise and pollution High cost of living Feeling isolated Beautiful landscapes Convenient public transport Peace and quiet Shops, cinemas, theatres Friendly, helpful people Low rate of unemployment High quality lifestyle Lead unhealthy lifestyle
Teacher: What is the aim of the lesson? Use the word: To discuss Pupils: To discuss advantages/disadvantages of living in the city and in the country
