NL Division Series • San Diego Padres vs. Houston Astros • Padres win 1st of five-game series with a 2-1 win • Astros win the 2nd with a 5-4 win over the Padres • Padres win the 3rd with another 2-1 win thanks to Jim Leyritz’s home run • Padres take the series with a final 6-1 win over the Astros

NL Championship Series • San Diego Padres vs. Atlanta Braves • Caminiti hits a home run in the 10th to win 3-2 over the Braves in the first of a seven-game series • Padres win the 2nd game in Atlanta with a 3-0 victory • Braves have a 6-run sixth inning to beat the Padres 8-3 • Michael Tucker of Atlanta hits a 3-run homer as the Braves go onto to win 7-6 • Padres finally complete the series with a 5-0 victory over the Braves, earning themselves the National League championship and a trip to the World Series

World Series • San Diego Padres vs. New York Yankees • Padres were leading the 1st game of the best of 7 series, but the Yankees came back to score 7 runs in the 7th inning to take the game 9-6 • Yankees pound the Padres for a 9-3 victory in game 2 • Scott Brosius of New York hits 2 home runs in what looked like a Padres victory, but the Yankees end up winning 5-4 • The Yankees win 3-0 to win the World Series ending the Padres incredible season

  9. Unforgettable Season • Though the Padres lost in a sweep to the Yankees in the World Series, they still proved they were a force to be reckoned with by being underdogs to the Astros and Braves and winning. It gave hope to Padres fans all over the country and gave them something to remember. No one will ever forget this unforgettable year in baseball history
