e-TREAMe-learning for training Energy Agencies in mobility management and alternative fuelsIntelligent Energy - Europe STEER Tobias Kipp, team redMM Training: Lessons to be learned05.06.2008 ECOMM, London
Objectives • Motivation and support for Energy Agencies to take up the topic of mobility, train their staff and implement own mobility related services • To provide advanced access to information and learning tools for a wide audience through the e-learning platform • Promotion of a more sustainable mobility with less traffic growth, accidents, pollution, noise and energy consumption
What's it about? • Development and implementation of an e-learning platform for Energy Agencies containing training modules for different topics in mobility management and alternative fuels. The modules are based on the training modules of the previous three STEER-projects (COMPETENCE, e-ATOMIUM and TREATISE). • Development and implementation of new transport related services at every participating Energy Agency • Support of the users and the participating Agencies by an experienced Expert Board • Mobilisation of local and regional actors for the implementation of new projects in the mobility sector in co-operation with the participating Energy Agencies
Current status of the project • e-learning platform available for the public • New regional services implemented • Update of training modules in progress • Evaluation of the project started • Intensive dissemination activities • Website available (www.e-tream.eu) • End of project in August 2008
Philosophy e-TREAM learning is: • Interactive • Much more than just reading information • Project oriented • Giving practical advice on how to implement a project • Direct and personal • Starting where the student is at the beginning • Communicative • Exchange between students and tutors, students and students etc.
Training modules • Fundamentals of transport and energy (introduction) • Production and utilisation of bio-fuels • Alternative fuels and clean vehicles (excluding bio-fuels) • Driving style and in-car devices • Mobility Management for municipalities • Mobility Management for companies and institutions • Mobility Management for schools • Demand Management • Mobility Marketing
Fundamentals of transport and energy • Basic information and definitions • Terms and figures • Mobility behaviour • Noise and pollution • Safety • Costs • Ways to influence mobility patterns • Reduction of mobility demand • Reduction of fuel consumption • Use of alternative fuels • Promotion of more sustainable modes of transport • Integrated approaches
Alternative fuels and vehicles • Types of alternative vehicles • Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) • Electric vehicles • Hydrogen vehicles • Fuel cell vehicles • Hybrid vehicles • Advantages and problems • Basic technology • Economical benefits • Environmental benefits • Market penetration
Mobility Management for Companies & Institutions • Problems to be tackled • Traffic load (at peak hours) • Crowded parking facilities • Costs for mobility and parking • Wellness of employees • Conflicts with neighbours • Environmental damages and pollution • Image of the company / institution • Implementation of measures • Promotion of biking / walking / public transport • Parking management • Fleet management • Promotion of ride-sharing • Management of business trips
How can you participate? • All participants of the conference are invited to use the e-learning platform (please visit www.e-tream.eu ) • If you are interested, we will inform you about events and dissemination activities • Join our discussion forum. Topics so far: • How to organize a Mobility Centre? • Driving Style and in-car devices • Alternative fuels Is the e-TREAM platform an appropriate basis for your planned project? • Training for new target groups • New thematic areas
