What does this profession do? • A CMA is a strategic and financial management professional who combines accounting expertise and business knowledge with professional management skills to provide leadership, innovation and an integrating perspective to organizational decision-making in the global marketplace!
Is this field growing or shrinking? • The need for Certified Management Accountants in the marketplace is stronger than ever as more companies turn to the holistic business viewpoint of the CMA to help them compete in this ever changing world.
Potential Earnings? • From data collected in 2006, the average amount a CMA makes over a year is around $87,073.
What education is necessary? • You must have a university degree as well as prerequisites, then you must take the CMA entrance exam, and finally you have to complete one of four CMA Professional Programs. This can all take anywhere between 5-10 years, depending on your work experience.
Responsibilities and Duties • Examining accounting records to monitor the financial health of companies. • Analyze all aspects of companies’ operations from a financial perspective. • May analyze everything from the cost of supplies to the payroll costs. • Write reports and present the findings and recommendations to management.
