Predicaments • Gilda Joyce gets into many predicaments in this book. Some examples are: being chased by spirits, a mystery that depends on her, and some dangerous life-threatening situations. • In the end though, Gilda makes it through and finishes all the tasks and everything is right.
Why I Chose This Book • I chose this book because it seemed interesting. After I read the excerpt, I knew it was the right book for me. It turned out that I was right! • It was very easy to follow along with, or to relate. The way Jennifer writes, it’s like you’re in the book yourself!
Gilda Joyce Excerpt • In the back row of Mrs. Weinstock’s eighth-grade classroom, Gilda Joyce chewed on a lock of her dark hair and pretended to listen to her classmates as they described their plans for the summer on the last day of the schoolyear. Gilda paid little attention to the discussion, because she was secretly absorbed in reading a small, dog-eared book called “The Master Psychic’s Handbook: A Guide to Psychic Principles and Methods.”
