The final skill to learn in this function unit is to evaluate function equations. First – some information about using function notation. Remember we use “f(x)”. If you are asked to evaluate a function equation for a specific “x” such as x = 3, you will be asked to find f(3). Notice that instead of f(x) there is now a 3 where the x was. That means you should replace the “x” in the equation with a “3” and find the answer using order of operations.

Launching A Rocket: A rocket is launched from 180 feet above the ground at time t = 0. The function that models this situation is given by: H(t) = – 16t2 + 96t + 180, where the height of the rocket in feet is a function of the time that has gone by in seconds. Evaluate for H(2) H(7.5) H(10)
