  1. Mars By Chelsea Hoyle

  2. Mars Exploration • Mars is mainly explored by rovers. • The rovers are called Spirit, curiosity and Opportunity. • They were put on mars in 2004 to search for water. • They were designed to last 3 months. • Spirit lasted 6 years and returned to earth 2010. • Opportunity is still on mars today. • Curiosity was sent up in 2011 and is still functioning today • The rovers clues have helped humans discover clues on mars past present and how human life might be possible there in the future.

  3. Opportunity • This rover launched July 7th 2003. • It was sent uo with its twin spirit. • They were sent up there to search for water in the past. • It is still up there and being used today for missions. • So far it has lived 40 times its expected lifespan. • Opportunity is the longest running mars rover. • It found traces of water and signs of life there in the past. • Opportunity has continued to move, gather scientific observations, and report back to Earth for nearly 40 times its designed lifespan. • Mission highlights include the initial 90 sol mission, finding extramartian meteorites such as MeridianiPlanum, and over two years studying Victoria crater. It survived dust-storms and reached Endeavour crater in 2011, which has been described as a "second landing site

  4. Spirit • Spirit ran from 2004 to 2010. • Its twin rover is Opportunity. • It became stuck in late 2009 and its last communication with earth was early 2010. • The rover completed its 90-sol mission. • Spirit functioned 20 times longer then its expected lifespan. • It also went more then 7 km when it was expected to only go 600 meters. • It was also used to collect and alalize martin rocks.

  5. Curiosity • Curiosity is a car-sized robotic rover on Mars as part of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission. • Curiosity was launched on November 26, 2011. • The rover is researching the weather on mars and see if human life would ever be possible. • They are getting more supporting details that human life would be possible one day on mars. • It takes pictures of its data and sends it to earth.

  6. Mars Science Laboratory • This article is about the spaceflight mission to Mars. For the surface rover named curiosity. • It is a rover mission designed to investigate the climate and collect data for a manned mission to mars.

  7. Manned mission to mars • The mars science laboratory is collecting information to see when and if it would be possible. • They estimate that this will happen some time in the 20th or 21st century. • They will continue to research until they figure out how they can make human exploration to mars possible. • It would take about 7- 8 month to get to the surface of mars.

  8. Traveling to mars • When people will be able to travel to mars depends how soon they send a manned space ship to mars. • They are pretty close to finding being able to do that. • My guess is that it will become possible in the late 20th centry. • I guessed this because I predict that they will send a manned ship to mars in 30-50 years so by then they will know how it is possablethey will just have to build a big enough ship. • If it woild take about 7-8 month to get to mars in a small shuttle it would take at least 8-10 months for a bigger one.

  9. Opportunity Longest rover to be in mars
