Greater Manchester: Accidents and Casualties • Report requested by the Greater Manchester Road Accident Prevention Group (GMRAPG) • Consists of tabulations looking at Imported and Exported accidents / casualties in the districts of GM • Greater likelihood of accidents occurring in the city centre than in the surrounding districts • Across GM as a whole, ¾ of drivers involved in KSIs had their accidents in the county • Majority of GM pedestrian and child road accident casualties live in GM
Kent and Sussex PTW KSI incidents • Kent Casualty Reduction Group used MAST to extract information • Compared • incidents in Kent and Sussex to other counties • HA routes to Local Authority roads • different age groups and genders • different boroughs • different driver mosaic groups
Slough Borough Council“Mr Singh’s Feet” • MAST identified middle-aged entrepreneur Asian males • Disproportionate per head of population • Red Traffic light offences traditionally a problem • Aim - link issues and raise awareness in Asian community • Posters targeted on public buildings, petrol stations, sports centres, shops and places of worship. • Campaign received press coverage and brought a complaint from Sikh Temple • Result – Awareness raised
