  1. By: Homeroom 103 The ABC’s of the Solar System

  2. A is for Asteroid • An Asteroid a rock, or Minor Planet orbiting the Sun. • The larger ones have also been called planetoids. • Asteroids belt is the region of the solar system By: Anaya

  3. B is for black hole • The core of a collapsed star . Its gravity is so strong that not even light can escape. • Back holes emit xi-ray radiation and get smaller and smeller until they disappear or evaporate . By: Shariff

  4. Small ball of dust and gas witch orbits the sun often in elliptical oval orbits • Comets are recognisable because of their tails • This tail is only visible when the comet is close enough to the sun usually when it is at about the same distance C is for comet By: Capone

  5. Dis for Double star • Double stars are two stars that are attracted to each other by their respective gravitationl pulls. • They are also known as binary star. • More than half of all stars are in binary solar systems. By: Nevaeh

  6. Eis for Earth • Earth is the third planet from the sun and the largest of the other four inner planets. • The earth is special because it is the only place in the solar system known to support life. • It is in the perfect position in the solar system not to close to the sun and not to far it is the third planet from the sun. By: Dasaan

  7. Fis for Ferdinand By: Aubrey • Ferdinand is the moon of Uranus. • Ferdinand was discovered by Matthew J. Holman. • Ferdinand was discovered in 2001.

  8. Gis for Galaxy • A galaxy is a large group of stars, bound together by gravity. • There are billions of galaxies in the Universe . Some are very small with only a few million stars . • Others could have 400 billion stars or even more ! By: Xavion

  9. His for Helium • Helium is the second most common element in in the universe after hydrogen • The atmosphere of large gas planets like Jupiter By: Symone

  10. Iis for Io • Io is a with lot’s of volcanos. • Io is moon of Jupiter. • Io is a moon the fourth biggest moon in the solar system. By: ELIJAH

  11. Jis for Juliet • It is a moon of Uranus • Juliet belongs to a group of moons along with the moons Bianca, Cressida, Desdemona, Portia, Rosalind, Belinda, Cupid, and Perdita. • It was discovered on January 3rd. By: Jaylen

  12. The distance which a ray of light would travel in one year. • This is about 6,000,000,000,000 (6 trillion) miles. • Its just over two million light years to our nearest neighbor the Andromeda galaxy. By Jett Lis for Light Year

  13. Mis for Milky Way • The milky way is our Galaxy • There is no black hole in the milky way • The milky way(the world Galaxy By: Anya

  14. Nis for Neptune • Neptune is the 8th planet in the Solar System • Neptune has 13 moons • Neptune takes 168 days and 8 years to orbit the sun By: Synja

  15. Orthosie is a moon of Jupiter. • Orthosie was named after the greek god Orthosie. • Scoot S Sheperd discovered Orthosie in 2001. ois for Orthosie By: Austin

  16. P is for Pluto By: Kelvin Pluto is a distant, cold and icy world orbiting the sun many millions or miles away from it in a region of the solar system know as the Kuiper belt. It is only 2,280 Kilometers wide and take 248 year to orbit the sun. Clyde Tombaugh found ” Planet x”, which was later named Pluto by a young English girl (after the roman god of the underworld, not Mickey mouse’s dog!).

  17. Ris for Red Giant • A Red Giant is a dying star in the last stages of star life. • Red Giant stars reach sizes of 100 million to1 billion kilometers in diameter (62 million to 621 million miles). By: Ella

  18. Tis for Tarqeq • Tarqeq is the moon of Saturn. • Tarqeq is one of the five known members of the unit group of Moons, Which orbits Saturn By: Ja’shyah

  19. Uis for UV radiation • UV is light that has shorter wave lenghts than visible light. • The sun is our main source of UV radiation. • UV light can be used in banks to see if There are fake checks or notes. By: Karli

  20. Vis for Venus By: Ashley Venus is the second planet away from the sun and the closest to Earth. Venus is named after a Roman Goddess of love and beauty. Venus is 96% carbon dioxide.
