  2. Nat Turner’s Rebellion • 1831 • A slave • Very religious • Could read and write • Very obedient/respectful • Believed he was chosen by God to end slavery by force

  3. Nat Turner’s Rebellion • Gathered a group of slaves and began killing slave owners and their families • Over 50 people were killed

  4. Nat Turner’s Rebellion • Eventually all of Nat Turner’s group are captured and executed • Nat Turner is hanged

  5. Nat Turner’s Rebellion • Results • Scared the south • brought more problems to the slave • more rules • Less freedoms • no more education • South began preparing for more rebellions.
