The Religionof Christ VS The Religionof Mohammed
Matthew 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
Was founded by Christ (Matthew 16:18) Founded by Mohammed (Born in Mecca in West Central Arabia in A.D. 570, 5 centuries after “all truth” had been revealed cf. 2 Peter 1:3)
2 Peter 1:3 “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” God sent Christ, and it is through Christ that we have received “all” things. There is no need nor room for Mohammed, five centuries later
Was founded by One whose birth was foretold in the Old Testament (Gen. 3:15; Isaiah 7:14)
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” The redemption of man through Jesus was in God’s mind from the very beginning.
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel”
Was founded by One whose birth was foretold in the Old Testament (Gen. 3:15; Isaiah 7:14) Was founded by one whose birth was not foretold in the Old Testament
Surah 7:157 (Qur’an) Refers to: “…an unlettered prophet… mentioned in … the Law and the Gospel.” Muslims claim that John 14:16, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper…” refers to Mohammed. Refers to Holy Spirit (cf. vs. 17)
Follows the New Testament, of which Jesus is “The Mediator” Hebrews 9:15-17 Last Message (2:1-4)
Hebrews 9:15-17 “And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives.”
Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.”
Follows the New Testament, of which Jesus is “The Mediator” Hebrews 9:15-17 Last Message (2:1-4) Follows the Qur’an, concerning which they mistakenly say God (Allah) is the Author
Qur’an Contradicts Self Re: Creation of man Surah 96:1, “from clots of blood” Surah 6:2, “from clay” Surah 25:54, “from water” Also, Surah 4:157 denies that Jesus Christ was crucified, a position which denies the basic reason for Christ coming to earth!
Respects Jesus Christ as the “Messiah” of Old Testament Prophecy Acts 2:31,36
Acts 2:31, 36 “He, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.” (36), “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Respects Jesus Christ as the “Messiah” of Old Testament Prophecy Acts 2:31,36 Denies that Jesus is the Messiah of Old Testament prophecy… Claim four prophets: Adam, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed, with the last the greatest.
Qur’an Denies that Jesus was begotten of God Though Muslims “pay respect” to Jesus as a prophet, Surah 19:29 plainly denies that Jesus was begotten of God.
Qur’an Contradicts Bible The Qur’an contradicts the Bible account of Jesus birth. Concerning Mary at childbirth, we read… “And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree; She cried (in her anguish): ‘Ah! Would that I had died before thee! Would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!” (Surah 19:23).
Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” Husbands are called to the highest expression of love, as established by Christ’s example in His love for the church
1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.”
Elevates Women Ephesians 5:25; 1 Peter 3:7 Degrades Women “Men have superiority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other” (Surah 4:2).
Qur’an Degrades Women Surah 4:10, “a male should inherit twice as much as a female.” Surah 4:35, “As for those (your wives, sc) from whom you fear disobedience admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them…”
Divine in Origin and spread by those who are motivated by love John 14:23; 2 Cor. 5:14
John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him’”
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
Divine in Origin and spread by those who are motivated by love John 14:23; 2 Cor. 5:14 Human in Origin and spread by those who are motivated by fear
Qur’an features fear & hatred Surah 8:39, “Make war on those (unbelievers, sc) until idolatry is no more and Allah’s religion reigns supreme. If they desist Allah is cognizant of all their action; but if they give no heed, know that Allah will protect you.”
Qur’an features fear & hatred Surah 9:14, “Make war on them: Allah will chastise them through you and humble them. He will grant you victory over them and heal the spirit of the faithful.” Surah 4:73, “Let those who would exchange the life of this world for the hereafter, fight for the name of Allah; whether they die or conquer, We shall richly reward them.”
Qur’an features fear & hatred Surah 4:95, “Allah has given them that fight with their goods and their persons a higher rank than those who stay at home. He has promised all a good reward, but far richer is the recompense of those who fight for Him.”
Qur’an features fear & hatred “Moreover, according to Islamic law, the penalty for apostasy is death. In some countries a Muslim who is baptized, or who has shown interest in Christianity, may possibly be poisoned by his own family. In countries in which Islam is the national religion the abandonment of Islam is considered an act of disloyalty to the state.” (Origin, History, and Development of Islam, by Miller, 95)
Conclusion Moslems believe in heaven and hell, but they do not understand or believe the only “way” to heaven is through the Son. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6)
