  1. Advanced examplesTest & Analysis ProjectLowE e.m. physics Maria Grazia Pia, INFN Genova on behalf of the T&A team, LowE+advanced ex. WG et al. Geant4 Workshop, CERN, 4 October 2002

  2. Advanced examples • LHC-like examples on their way… • lAr_calorimeter, composite_calorimeter in CVS, running and producing plots • Thanks to Sunanda Banerjee (CMS) and Peter Loch (Atlas) for providing test beam applications as a starting point • Thanks to Alex, Henrique (Boulby Mine exp.), Lorenzo (Anaphe), Pedro (CMS), Alberto, Patricia (LCG-CERN/IT/API) for helping with the “pedagogical transformation” of the test beam codes • Work will continue in the next weeks, in view of the December release • LHC experiments are welcome to review the examples, provide suggestions, improvements (also in future releases) • Perhaps also useful as benchmarking testbeds? • Other LHC-like examples welcome • LHCb? First contacts established, postponed because of limitation of resources

  3. Test & Analysis project • Fruitful and collaborative discussions across various WGs • Thanks to Alberto, Andreas, Gabriele, Lorenzo, Michael, Pablo, Sandra, Sergei, Susanna… • Agreement on the vision proposed on Tuesday morning • Review of requirements • 2 new versions in a week! • analysis of need, priority, stability • identification of sub-teams responsible for each requirement (STT, AIDA, Anaphe, physics WGs, project team etc.) • Update in CVS/web http:://www.ge.infn.it/geant4/analysis/TandA by the weekend • Still to be clarified: contribution of Anaphe members to the project • they are key team members for the success of the whole project! • Analysis and design of the system needed soon…

  4. LowE e.m. sessions • Joint session with users • Highly successful (10 user presentations, wide audience, in spite of low tone announcement) • Results, problems, requirements… all will be available on the web • Lot of interest (and work done by WG members) on GRID, distributed computing… • “Developers” session • Review of recent results and current status • Still open problems: electron processes, performance • Extensions and improvements (Compton, Bremsstrahlung), in response to URs • Still lack of resources for physics consolidation, core testing, performance studies • Cosmic ray physics (organized by LowE, joint with std e.m. and hadronic) • Interest for collaboration with Univ. Campinas on fluorescence extensions

  5. Highlights and outlook… (a personal selection) • Ignominy… • Distributed computing, GRID… • Performance optimisation… • Inter-WGs projects… (e.g. Test & Analysis) • Openness to the world around us… • Users, physics, technology, tools… Reports at next year’s workshop!
