Growing Up • Loretta quit school and got married to Oliver “Mooney” Lynn at the age of thirteen and moved to Washington. • At the age of eighteen Loretta had four children • Loretta loved to sing to her babies and her husband brought her a guitar on her eighteenth birthday
Loretta’s Big Break • Mooney entered her in a talent contest and she won, and received an invitation to the Buck Owens show • In 1960 Zero Records offered her a recording deal and she recorded one of her own songs, “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl,” which became a big hit and led her on her singing career
