What did we Learn? • Partnerships Rock! (if done right) • Listen to your Audience • Networking Opens Doors
About Partnerships • What is a partnership? Partnerships can… • Accomplish more • Two is better than one • Lead to more • i.e. Earth Savers first helped the Amigos for Christ office establish a workplace recycling program. Now they invite us to be the Green Sponsor of their music festival
About Listening • Who is your audience? Listening can… • Improve your program • Are you serving an effective role?
About Networking • What is networking? Networking can… • Open Doors • Telling people about your cause helps you find new volunteers, partners, and donors • Be Virtual • Social networking is a great tool to spread the word about your message. Make your social networking platforms engaging for your audience.
Where did stickgirl go wrong? • Where did stickgirl go wrong? • Never allowed a point in her Earth Savers Club meetings for agenda suggestions. • Asked her best friends to join her in her campaigns. • Rewarded her volunteers with doughnuts instead of a healthy alternative like apples. • Chose Justin Beiber music for her dance-a-than fundraiser. • She is trying to master her elevator pitch, but is not quite there.
Where did stickgirl go wrong? • 2. Where did stickgirl go wrong? • She skipped a step in the Earth Force process. • She planned a leadership retreat at a local park for Earth Savers Club. • She attempted to make new friends by inviting Special Education students to the local eco-pep rally with her. • She was not respectful to her principal’s secretary’s rules. • Sickgirl used snail mail instead of email to contact potential partners. • She followed up three times to her local Wal-Mart about a donation.
Questions? • This PowerPoint will be made available for download at www.theearthsaversclub.org • Tonight’s presentation participants that become a program partner of the Earth Savers Club by August 18th, will be entered in a contest to win $50 for their project. • What webinar should we do next? Communications or Funding Development?
