1. DRAFTASSESSMENT REPORT AND EMERGENCY ACTION PLANFORCLEAN-UP OF PRIORITY DRAINAGE CHANNELS IN PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI
2. Earthquake of 12th January 2010 caused extensive damage in Haiti resulting in:
Significant loss of life.
Many IDP’s living in temporary camps.
Breakdown in clean water, sewage, solid waste management, among others.
Most main drainage channels in Port-au-Prince are blocked with large quantities of trash/debris. Significant flooding is likely during periods of heavy rainfall.
Many camps and established communities are located in low lying areas and there could be a significant loss of life and property if these channels are not cleared. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
3. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE MTPTC/SEEUR/DINEPA have identified, prioritized and performed assessments of the channels which pose the highest risk and hence would require emergency action.
