    2. Earthquake of 12th January 2010 caused extensive damage in Haiti resulting in: Significant loss of life. Many IDP’s living in temporary camps. Breakdown in clean water, sewage, solid waste management, among others. Most main drainage channels in Port-au-Prince are blocked with large quantities of trash/debris. Significant flooding is likely during periods of heavy rainfall. Many camps and established communities are located in low lying areas and there could be a significant loss of life and property if these channels are not cleared. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

    3. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE MTPTC/SEEUR/DINEPA have identified, prioritized and performed assessments of the channels which pose the highest risk and hence would require emergency action. Assessment performed on 26th February 2010 by: Edwige Petit – MTPTC/DINEPA Nader Jorseus – SEEUR Ricky Constant – MTPTC/DINEPA Paul Sanon – CRS Gunnar Settergren – MSB Martin Bjerregaard – DWR Wilston Etienne – Oxfam/DWR/DINEPA Summary Report follows.
