Interferometric investigations of eclipsing binary Del Ori as a key to an improved distance scale K.Shabun ESO, A.Richichi ESO, U.Munary INAF, A.Siviero INAF, B.Paczynski Princeton University
Project description • Double-lined eclipsing binaries • AMBER VLTI • Angular diameters and separation • Effective temperatures • Wilson-Devinney method • Global calibration of eclipsing binaries as distance indicators • Contribution to the effective temperature scale for hot stars
Object • Object: Del Ori • V=2.2, J=2.7, H=2.9, K=3.0 • SpType: O9.5II-III+B0 • Period: 5.732476 days • DiamA ~ 0.9 mas, DiamB ~ 0.6 mas • Separation ~ 2.5 – 3.0 mas • Distance: 280 pc • Calibrator: 51 Ori • J=2.9, H=2.3, K=2.2
Observations • Project ID: 078.D-0189(B) • Object: Del Ori • Calibrator: 51 Ori • Timing: 4 observations at the times of maximal separation (6 h total) • First set of frames: 31 December 2006 • AMBER configuration: U1 – U3 – U4 • Bands: J, H, K • Low resolution mode
Data reduction • Gasgano • amber_ascii_export • Frame selection by SNR (20% of the best frames) • Only one calibrator is available • Uncertainty with TF: more calibrators needed
Model fitting • Parameters: DiamA, DiamB, Separation, PA • Grid approach • Two uniform disk model • One minimum is already found • Good match with the previous observations
VLTI NIGHT REPORT - 2007-03-06OB ID: 248151 Program ID: 078.D-0189(B) OB Name:CAL_51ori_2===================*** Instrument : AMBER*** Target : 51ori*** Classification : A)Fully within specifications*** Comments on this OB : OPD drifts making the fringe tilted during exposures However no scan rejected by the pipeline, data OK*** Time Started: 00:36*** Time Finished: 01:12OB ID: 248156 Program ID: 078.D-0189(B) OB Name:SCI_delori_2=====================*** Instrument : AMBER*** Target : delori*** Classification : B)Mostly within specifications*** Comments on this OB : Problem with guiding since the IRIS FOV shows a binary with around 300 mas separation with a flux ratio of ~5 which is not shown in the FC (totally bloomed). We considered the brightest component is the science object. Problem: speckles of the faint companion are injected into AMBER. Moreover, the coordinates of the bright companion is unknown, and the OPD drifted quickly. Difficult to keep them vertical. Data reduction shows a good visibility on a baseline, a very faint on the other one, nothing on the 3rd.*** Time Started: 01:14*** Time Finished: 02:08
