Avoca Colts Boys 2012-2013 Season Review: Continued with extended 90 minute Sunday training for all age groups. Loss of ten U16s & further ten boys across other age ranges left 30 boys at beginning of season. Recruited 20+ boys to grow Sunday participation back to 50+ ~ our largest membership of boys ever. Maintained continuity of Coach & Manager structure for U8s/U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s. The improved Skills Development of Boys during season very evident. U8s, U10s, U12s & U14s competed in 12 club tournaments U8s & U10s won over 90% of all games played throughout the season. Incredible performance as a direct result of Trevor Dagg’s unrelenting enthusiasm and army drill sergeant coaching . The future Irish International Squad is here in Avoca HC !! U16s (consisting of primarily U14 year olds) punched above their weight in League and Cup games. Will remain as a strong U16s team for next season. cont. >>>
Avoca Colts Boys Closing Weeks: First ever away trip of Boys in April. Took U14s & U16s to Cork for weekend of hockey with two local clubs. Packed in laser combat and cinema too. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Sandra O’Sullivan for all of her hours in organising the trip, and the four dads Richard, Donal, Paul and Rajiv for chauffeuring and minding the boys for the two days. U14s to compete in Bailey Cup 28th. Running an U12s (5th and 6th class) tournament with local feeder schools to Newpark on Sun 28th as part of our recruitment drive for next season. Final thanks go to: Team Managers Donal O’Sullivan, Ivan Meagher & DonnchaPatchell who accompanied boys on numerous matches in all weathers this season. To those parents who cheered from the side-lines at matches and blitzes. Mark Cullen for providing us with great coaches every Sunday.
