But like many destinations, there are often down times where resorts and local amenities will close down for refurbishments and preparation for the high season. So, here are a few breathtaking islands you must see before the year ends. Pulau Tioman Pulau Tioman Situated on the south coast of West Malaysia, Pulau Tioman pulls in those who enjoy the more adventurous holidays. If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a bowl of delicious Phad Thai you’d find at Banana Tree, one of the best restaurants in Chelmsford if we do say so ourselves… you might want to go elsewhere. This island although very popular is still very much unspoiled, with the wilderness thriving and waiting to be explored. Most visitors will opt for a ferry from Mersing, which runs a total of three ferries per day, with the journey taking around two hours. There are various beaches you can visit on this island. ABC, known as Air Batong, is popular for its snorkelling, whilst Juara and Salang offers postcard white sand and crystal clear seawater, perfect for swimming. This website uses cookies. 2. As well as the island being very popular for snorkelling, there’s also hiking and the chance to spot some local wildlife. The Asah waterfall is a popular hiking spot and considered to be one of the best on the island. Perhentian Kecil Perhentian Kecil One of the two Perhentian Islands, Kecil is great for backpackers and is more of a party town compared to Besar. Divided by two beaches, Long Beach and Coral Bay, you’ll be sure to spend some of your hard-earned cash, with this area being a lot pricier than the rest of Malaysia. If you’re after a cocktail or two, like the usual ones you’d find in bars in Oxford city centre, Palm Tree is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. One of Kecil’s most sought-after activities for travellers is Coral Bay, there you can snorkel to your heart's content and even stumble across some more romantic, secluded areas of sand. After a heavy night of partying and painting the town red, you can always take a trip to one of the many spots on the island for some R&R. Perhentian Besar Perhentian Besar If you’re looking for a place where there’s plenty of places to eat, then Perhentian Besar is the most favourable. As it’s the off season, restaurants will be much quieter and that means you have more to choose from, however, be wary that some may have closed due to it being low season. Besar is a more luxurious setting compared to its sister island and those who’ve visited, say the sea is crystal clear, which is perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. If accommodation is important to you, then you won’t struggle to find something to suit your tastes. These stunning Malaysian islands are just waiting to be explored, so why not treat yourselves to a last-minute trip and make all your friends and relatives jealous. In the meantime, if you’re looking for Malaysian restaurants, why not try one of our lovely venues?
