  2. Unit Summary What is the right answer?? What is the right question?? Can asking the right question get you closer to the right answer? How will you know the answer is right? Learning to research, which is really just another way of saying learning to investigate, will lead you in the right direction. Become the CSI (Correct Self-instruction Investigator) of the digital world.

  3. Curriculum-Framing Questions • Essential Question Why do we need to communicate? • Unit Questions How has technology changed the way we communicate? How has technology changed the way we gather information?Content QuestionsWhat tools are used for social networking? What skills are needed for effective communication? How can these tools and skills be applied to research? What additional tools and skills are needed to be an informed 21st century digital citizen?

  4. How Can I find the Right Answer? This project will help my students develop 21st century skills by: • Using digital technology, communication tools and/or networks appropriately student to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information • Using technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate and communicate information • Identifying and asking significant questions that clarify various points of view and lead to better solutions • Framing, analyzing and synthesizing information in order to solve problems and answer questions • Communicating with others through a blog.

Gauging Student Needs Assessment • Purpose of the Assessment • To gather information about what students already know and what they wonder about other forms of technology • What I want to learn from my students? • I want to find out what technology and research skills they already possess. • How I have tried to promote higher-order thinking? • I ask students to find relationships and draw conclusions about the tools and skills they already possess and how they can transfer those tools and skills to research • How the assessment information helps me and my students plan for upcoming activities in the unit? • We will revisit this assessment throughout the unit for students to add to their knowledge. • What feedback or additional ideas I’d like? • I would like help on my research topic. I need to elicit more higher-order thinking, involving a riveting topic, but I’m not sure howto find that topic.
