  1. Classroom Expectations

  2. When Entering the Classroom • Quietly enter and find your seat. • Get your pencil and books open and ready to begin.

  3. When the Teacher is Teaching a Lesson • Sit up and face forward. • Pay attention to the lesson.

  4. When the Teacher Wants Your Attention • The Teacher will ask for your attention, or ring a bell. • Stop what you are doing and turn to the Teacher.

  5. When You are Late for Class • Have a late slip with you to give the Teacher when asked for it. • Quietly enter the classroom without causing a disruption. • Get your books out and join in with the class.

  6. When You Need Help • Raise your hand without talking.

  7. What about if I need to sharpen my pencil, go to the bathroom, or get a drink?

  8. When You Need to Sharpen Your Pencil • Wait until it is a good time to sharpen your pencil, such as when the Teacher is finished talking, or when it is time to begin working.

  9. When you Have to “Take Care of Business” • You may leave when you really need to go, not because you want to go. (Abuse it, and lose it!) • Return immediately. • Always leave, and return, without causing a disruption.

  10. When You Need a Drink • You are permitted to have a bottle of water only with you in class. • Refill it between classes. • Keep all liquids away from the computers.

  11. When You Receive New Papers • Glue them into your scribbler right away. (Use the back of scribbler pages so you do not waste paper.)

  12. When Turning in Papers • Have ready either: your assignment or “The Reason Why I Do Not Have it Ready” sheet. • Make sure your name and date are on the paper and pass it to the Teacher.

  13. When You Have Been Absent • Check your make-up folder in the class filing cabinet for any missing work. • Complete work and hand it in a.s.a.p.

  14. When You Have a Work Period • Face forward and stay on task. • Talk only with your table partner(s) when permitted. • Raise your hand for help from the Teacher.

  15. When Working in Small Groups • Everyone stays in their group and faces the group’s center. • Use “ruler voices,” when talking. • Stay on task!

  16. When Changing Groups • Collect all materials. • Move quietly to your seat. • Sit down and begin work.

  17. When Using the Computer • Keep food and drinks away at all times. • Use the computer for research and assignmentsonly, not games/videos. • Keep your password between yourself and the Teacher. • Remember to log off when finished.

  18. When You are Taking a Test • Face forward • No talking is permitted. • Raise your hand for help from the Teacher. • When you are finished, turn your paper over and read your novel quietly.

  19. When the End-of Period Bell Rings • Quietly remain seated until the Teacher dismisses the class, NOT the bell! • Stand, push in your chair (or place chair on desk), and quietly exit the classroom. • Do not pack up early!

  20. When Practising Mental Math • You must be at assigned seat with plate, marker and cloth within one minute of Teacher Signal. • Show your answer when Teacher says, “Show Me the Answer.” • All Team Members must be facing toward the center of the group and participating to receive full points for a correct answer.

  21. That’s all for now!
