Our goals Encourage people both on and off campus to read the same book and enjoy talking about it (i.e. strengthen literacy) Raise awareness in the community of our campus and our library

The schedule • Opening kick-off • Three book discussions • Film showing followed by a discussion • Panel discussion • The finale party
Involvement of UAS-K classes • Face to face and distance delivered classes • English • Psychology • Sociology • Humanities • Content was streamed for one class, and students in another class were present at discussions by audio conference
How did we publicize? Posters around town Electronic bulletin boards on campus Emails to faculty Talk radio and PSAs on radio Press releases Newspaper articles Word of mouth And more

Stats • Circulations over the semester (at both Campus Library and Ketchikan Public Library): • Books: 160 • Audio book: 20 • DVDs: 28 • Events: • Book discussions averaged 25 people, including distance students • Film showing and discussion: 25 people • Panel discussion: 33 people
Costs • Books, film, soundtrack $325 • Food, paper products for 7 events 400 • Film license 230 • TOTAL $ 955
Benefits Increased the profile and good will of the university in town Increased our circ statistics Melded our students, faculty, and the community into one semester long project Kathy and I had a fabulous time! People are looking forward to the next OKOB project
