Utah Cluster Acceleration Partnership (UCAP) • Began in 2010 • Partnership between DWS, USHE, and GOED with funding coming primarily from USHE and DWS resources • Purpose serves to increase economic development by linking workforce development with educational alignment

UCAP 2.0 • New UCAP Funding Process Effective FY14 Funded through DWS job growth funds Regionally based workforce and economic development initiatives Opportunity for participation by USHE, UCAT, and GOED New project commitments currently being finalized
STEM Action Center • HB 139 provided funding for STEM infrastructure • Creation of STEM Action Center housed at GOED • First round of one-time funding targeted for math interventions in grades 6-8 • Task force looking at what it means to be college and career ready
USHE Legislative Budget Request • $80 Million Request for Mission Based Performance Funding • $7.25 Million Request for scholarships and need based aid

66% GoalRegional Plans • Regional Plan Mapping Document- Due to Mary and Blair by October 31, 2013 • Objective: To assist in meeting the state’s goal to have 66% of Utahns ages 25-34 with a postsecondary credential by 2020, provide entry-level postsecondary certificate program/pathways of study in high school in key workforce clusters that lead to high-demand, high-wage occupations and that also provide opportunities for further education.

Regional Plans Panel Discussion • A representative from each region will provide a 2 -3 minute summary addressing the following points: • Brief summary of the regional plan to include core programs to be developed • Most significant accomplishment resulting from the regional certificate planning process • Most significant challenge in completing the regional plan
