  3. Thylacine • it is thought to have become extinct in the 20th century. It was the last extant member of its family, Thylacinidae, It is commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger (because of its striped back) or the Tasmanian wolf. Contents page

  6. lesser bilby • The lesser bilby (Macrotis leucura), also known as the yallara, the lesser rabbit-eared bandicoot or the white-tailed rabbit-eared bandicoot, was a rabbit-like marsupial. The species was first described by Oldfield Thomas as "Peregale leucura" in 1887.
