Student Friendly Definitions Using your background knowledge and your new knowledge on the word part –ologist create student friendly definitions of the following words:
Day 2- “Combine and Create” From the chart below, pick one prefix, one root and add both to this week’s word part -ologist to create your own word! Make as many words as you can in the next 2 minutes. Then define one of your words.
Day 3- Read & Reason Review the following cartoon. • Create your own cartoon (3 frames) based on an –ologist (a familiar one for you). • Pair/Share. See if your partner can guess on what –ologist your cartoon is based.
Day 4- Extend and Explore Word Theater With a partner, choose one word from the list to act out (charade style) for your classmates. Groups will be chosen at random to present!
Day 5- Going for the GoldCreate your own -ologist It’s time to get creative!! • Materials- blank paper, pencil Using your imagination, create your own –ologist or person who is an expert in something. Draw a picture of this person in action and write a 1 sentence description of what this person does for a living.
Bieberologist • Bieberologist- A bieberologist is a person who is an expert in all things Justin Beiber from his hair to his clothes, music and his favorite ice cream flavor.
