  2. Raj Patel • An English journalist, activist, and author known for his work with the world food system. Quick Facts • Born in northwest London in 1972 • His mother is from Kenya and father is from Fiji • Received BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford. • Received Masters at the London School of Economics • Received a PhD in Development Sociology • Organized 1999 protest in downtown Seattle in support of Food sovereignty. • Became a U.S citizen in January of 2010

  3. He Believed • The Global North must realize the harm they have caused to developing countries. • The Global North never gives food to developing countries freely. • Through the food movement the global north must highlight racial justice and gender justice.
