Trust statement of responsibility for Safeguarding As a Trust we are committed to ensuring children and adults are protected and come to no harm from abuse. All employees have a responsibility to be aware of national and local policies, their individual responsibilities with regards to the protection and safeguarding of both adults and children, and must adhere to them at all times.
Duties, Responsibilities & Requirements • Ensure implementation of Interagency Policies • Provide a suitable infrastructure to support safeguarding activities • Provide Mandatory Training • Patient care-clinical standards-achieving high quality care • Regulations- CQC Outcome 7 • Legislation- Children Act, s.11, Human Rights Act; Equality Act; MCA • Cost effectiveness- harm, neglect and abuse costs lives & organisational reputation • Safe Recruitment procedures • Service development takes account of individuals, families, children and young peoples welfare

Learning from IMRs & SC’s • Improve practice interface and transitions across children / adult service • Meet children's / adults needs in a more timely manner • Better recognition of risks in families • Less closed doors to individuals • Improved supervision & management oversight of safeguarding cases • Routinely take account of children and young people • Improve staffs understanding of safeguarding • Stronger local leadership & accountability for safeguarding • Focus on prevention through ensuring the provision of quality, respectful, dignified & person centered services
Objectives for enhancing safeguarding over the next year Improve training – • Promote use of NMC training toolkit • Develop Joint safeguarding children / adult e-learning • Provide joint safeguarding children / adult training to teams
Objectives for enhancing safeguarding over the next year Increase efficiencies & safeguarding lead capacity– • Employ safeguarding practitioner to work across children / adult safeguarding • Employ a support officer to improve safeguarding intelligence and data sets • Streamlining processes
