Definition of stoke • A stroke is the sudden death of a portion of the brain cells due to the lack of oxygen. • A stoke occurs when blood flow to the brain resulting in abnormal function of brain. It causes by blockage or rupture of an artery to the brain.
Symptoms of stoke • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg—especially on one side of the body • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking and understanding • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination. • Sudden severe headache with no cause
Treatment of stroke • Emergency treatment for stroke depends on whether you are having Ischemic Stoke blocking an artery. • Aspirin is the best-proven immediate treatment after the stroke to reduce the likelihood of having another stroke.
Prevention tips • Eat a healthy diet. • Maintain healthy weight. • Be active • Don’t smoke. • Limit alcohol use. • Have your cholesterol checked. • Monitor your blood pressure. • Take your medicine • Talk with your health care provider.
