Diagnosis • diagnosis of exclusion reached (after history, pe, and testing with allergens)
History • symptoms of nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, and congestion • Exacerbated by certain odors, alcohol, spicy foods, emotions and environmental factors (temperature, barometric pressure changes, and bright lights)
PE/Labs • Examine the symptoms • Conventional skin testing or by evaluation for specific IgE antibodies to known allergens
Management • based on the AHRQ Evidence Report and on additional treatments empirically employed but not discussed by the AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality)
