Public Safety Officers Benefit (PSOB) Effective October 2012 $328,612.73 • Basic Requirements: • Die as a result of traumatic injury; • Suffered in the line of duty
Idaho Workers Compensation • Workers Compensation (WC) is a no-fault system that provides wage loss and medical benefits to workers with job-related injuries or disease
Workers Compensation Benefits and Features Medical Care- reasonable and necessary medical care • Temporary and total disability benefits • Until you can return to work, or • Condition reached a point of maximum medical improvement • Permanent Impairment and/or Disability benefits • Able to return to some job • Not able to return to work • Death Benefits- survivor receives weekly benefits for 500 weeks (benefit will change is wife remarries) dependents receive benefits up to age 18.
Income Replacement Benefits • 5 day waiting period • 14 day retro period
Income Replacement BenefitsVolunteer Firefighters • Calculation of Weekly Income Benefits • 2012 state wide average weekly wage(SWAWW) $661. • Benefits for volunteers greater of: • AWE from regular employment, or • 67% of SWAWW =$442.87 • Maximum 90% of SWAWW = $594.90
Death/Survivor Benefits From WC • Spousal benefit is 45% to 60% (depending on children) of average weekly wage • Spouse paid up to 500 weeks or until remarriage. Upon remarriage spouse receives benefits for lesser of: • 180 weeks, or • Balance of 500 weeks • Funeral Benefit $6,000
Children’s Education Benefit Dependents of firefighters (including volunteers) killed or disabled in the line of duty are eligible for tuition, fees, on campus room and board, and up to a $500 book allowance at Idaho public institutions of higher learning or public professional-technical colleges. Limit is 36 months or four 9-month periods. Other conditions apply

Injury Illness means sickness, disease , heart, stroke or infection: That manifests itself during a specific Covered Activity, and Insured Person interrupts that activity for immediate medical treatment by a Physician or at a Hospital. Or, directly results from participation in a Covered Activity and medical treatment is received within 48 hours. Waived for Infectious Disease
