Dates to Remember: Feb. 12th-Family Reading Night February 13th – Cupid’s Café ($1) February 14th – Character Parade/Morning Meeting Valentine’s Day Party 1:45-2:45 February 15th – Cupids Cafe February 18th- No School, President’s Day March 5th – March Madness What We Did This Week… Reading The Sleeping Pig Writing How to Stay Healthy Theme Healthy Bodies/Germs Math Double-Digit Addition/Subtraction Book Character Parade Our annual Book Character Parade will be held Thursday morning, February 14th, during Morning Meeting. Please come to school dressed as your favorite book character! Don’t forget to bring along your favorite book! Prizes will be given away to students with the most creative costumes, so put on your creativity caps this weekend! We can’t wait to see your costumes! Mrs.Millette’s Friday NotesFebruary 8th, 2013 Cupid’s Café We will be visiting Cupid’s Café on Friday, Feb. 15th.. Students need to bring $1 to participate. They will enjoy a dessert and punch in a lovely Valentine atmosphere. Valentine Party We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a Valentine’s Party on Thursday, February 14th from 1:45 – 2:45. Briarwood Elementary will be electing a new parent representative to the School Based Decision Making council.  Candidates will need to make a 2 year commitment to serve on the School Based Decision Making council.  You may nominate an individual or yourself by emailing Jen Baileyjbailey6209@yahoo.com) a brief biography and contact information.  All nominations must be received by Tuesday, February 19, 2013 by 5:30 PM (CST).  Elections will be held on Tuesday, March 5th from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM in the front bell tower of Briarwood Elementary.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at jbailey6209@yahoo.com.Below is a brief overview of the responsibilities of the SBDM council taken from the Kentucky Department of Education website, for more information you may refer to www.education.ky.gov <http://www.education.ky.gov> .“School Based Decision Making councils promote shared leadership among those who are closest to the students. Membership of each council includes parents, teachers and an administrator of the school.
