ACTIONS: 2005 (I) • March: new AVC section regrouping: • Audiovisual activities • Videoconferencing activities • Webcasting • Event management softwares (CDS Agenda, Indico) • Other collaboration tools (email; instant messaging; network; VoIP; phone conferencing ) in separate sections with specialised skills, but close collaboration • AVC Section personnel and materials plan prepared for mgmt (taking account ofRTAG12) Thomas Baron – CERN-IT
ACTIONS: 2005 (II) • August: • SMAC prototype installed – centralised infrastructure for automating the recording of lectures in CERN conference rooms • Consolidation on one event management tool: CDS Agenda->Indico migration started • Webcast possible in Council Chamber and IT Auditorium in addition to Main Auditorium – Portable AV production+webcasting equipment purchased • September: • Alcatel eDial automatic audioconference system in beta-test: http://audioconf.cern.ch Thomas Baron – CERN-IT
ACTIONS: 2005 (III) • October: • start standardisation process of desktop/rooms videoconference equipement with CERN stores • start restructuring of the CERN Videoconference web site. More documentation (FAQs…) will be added in the future • November: • New MCU service starts hosted by the Lyon IN2P3 centre de calcul. Collaboration between IN2P3, CNRS, INSERM and CERN – 2 Codian MCUs (total 52 ports) + 1 ISDN gateway Thomas Baron – CERN-IT
ACTIONS: 2006 • Start refurbishing CERN videoconference rooms • Provide a unique web interface/portal to fully organise meetings • New Webcast server • Helix Unlimited universal license • Indico using Grid certificate and/or personal certificates • Consolidation of the Indico server infrastructure • Better reliability, speed, availability • Develope the synergies between the existing audio/video conference systems Thomas Baron – CERN-IT
