  1. Module One What Do These Classrooms Say?

What Does Your ClassroomSay about You? • The following slides are photographs of classrooms. • Ask yourself the following questions about each one: • What are your first impressions? • What does the teacher who set up this classroom and teaches in this classroom believe about teaching and learning? • What would a student in that classroom say about his or her ‘place’ in the learning environment? • Would you be comfortable teaching in that space?

  3. Look back at the previous classroom.Did you notice……the students’ orientation?…the lighting?…the use of audio/visuals (or lack of)?Now, consider those same elements as you examine the following classrooms?

  4. So What Will Your Classroom Say about You? Which classrooms matched best with your philosophy of teaching and learning? Consider the most comfortable classroom in which you have been a student. What made it conducive to learning? Make a commitment to change one thing about your classroom to better represent your beliefs about teaching. What will you change?
