` Welcome to the Cayman Turtle Centre • Cayman Turtle Centre was established in 1968 as Mariculture Ltd. by a group of investors from the United States and Great Britain as a facility to raise the green sea turtle, Chelonia mydas, for commercial purposes. • The intention was to supply the market with a source of product that did not deplete the wild populations further. By releasing turtles and facilitating research, any harm created by removing turtles and eggs from the wild would be mitigated. • Cayman's largest land-based attraction, Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter hosts more than 200,000 visitors each year. Educational, cultural and entertainment programmes are consistently being created and updated to enhance the experience that can only be found at our world renowned attraction.

` Butterfly Garden The Butterfly Garden, right next to the Aviary, is a great place to see a wide range of butterflies. A total of 18 different butterfly species have been seen there. Some are large and colorful, while others are tiny and may be plain white or black in color. The plants have been specially picked for the garden, to attract a wide range of butterflies. Look on the underside of the leaves, and you can often see their eggs, and the many different kinds of caterpillar that will one day become butterflies themselves!
` Birthday Parties With interactive games, activities, entertainment and prizes for kids of all ages, Cayman Turtle Centre really is the place to be.
