1. Advanced Placement Language and Composition EXAM Flex Academy Test Date: Wednesday, May 11th

2. What is the AP Program? • The Advanced Placement program was created by the College Board in 1955 • The tests allow advanced high school students the opportunity to earn college credit • By passing the test, you don’t have to take college courses that everyone else does which saves $$$

3. Why should a student take an AP course? • Currently college students have a 33% chance of graduating in America • The AP program hired a researcher to track how AP students do in college. AP students, regardless of AP exam score (and after only taking 1 class), increase that chance to 85%. There is a significant gain just from the experience of taking a rigorous class, regardless of performance on the exam.

4. What Can We Expect? • Test begins in the morning Wed., May 11th (Time TBA) • You will place valuables in folder which Becky will lock up; we will place backpacks in a separate room • Snacks & water OK- set aside for after test • First Part: multiple choice; Second Part: short answer/essay • Need to stay in room for full testing window or until everyone is done

5. What Happens if I Don’t Do Well? • Statistics show that just by taking the class and the test, you are setting yourself up for an 85% success rate vs. 33% success rate in college • AP English Literature & Composition will be offered next year so you have the perfect chance to practice
