  6. Foreign debt Having to pay back money borrowed from other countries

  7. Archipelago A group or chain of islands. Japan, Philippines, Indonesia

  8. Peninsula A land mass surrounded by water on 3 sides. India, Korea, Florida

  9. Traditional economy Basic economy, farming, no industrialization

  10. Command economy Government determines what and how much is produced

  11. Mixed economy Blends free enterprise with socialism

  12. Market economy The people determine what and how much is produced

  13. Sanctions Refusing to trade with a certain country

  14. Nationalism after WWII Countries became independent from European countries, especially in Africa

  15. Nonalignment Not taking sides during the Cold War to receive aide from both the US & Russia. India, SE Asia

  16. Communism Government controls all policies of the country, Both economically & politically

  17. Imperialism When one country takes over another country politically, socially & economically

  18. Urbanization People moving from the country to the city

  19. Animism
