Progress of Theoretical Physics (PTP) • Founded by Hideki Yukawa in 1946 • Published for the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Physical Society of Japan through IPAP (Institute of Pure and Applied Physics) • Publishes mainly the submitted and refereed original papers in all fields of theoretical physics such as… • Contains Papers, Letters and Invited Papers • particle physics • field theory • nuclear physics • condensed matter physics • statistical physics • astrophysics • cosmology
“Resistance Minimum in Dilute Magnetic Alloys” J. Kondo, Prog. Theor. Phys. 32 (1964), 37. Famous Papers • Kondo Effect • CP-Violation by Six-Quarks Difficulties • Decrease of Submission • Decrease of Subscription “CP-Violation in the Renormalizable Theory of Weak Interaction” M. Kobayashi and T. Maskawa, Prog. Theor. Phys. 49 (1973), 652.
Recent Efforts • Available Entire PTP Archive (from the first issue) on PTP Online • Special Offer of Waiving Publication Fee for A Year (till Sept. 2007) • Invited Papers • Service of Free Proofreading • Archive Submission Impact Factor IF (2005): 2.072
Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement • Published Approximately Quarterly • Mainly Proceedings of the International Conference in Japan
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan (JPSJ) • Established in 1946 • Successor of Proc. Phys.-Math. Soc. Jpn., in which Yukawa’s celebrated paper on meson theory (1935) was published. • Covers all the fields in physics, although currently the majority contributions are from condensed matter physics. JPSJ is the only Japanese journal for experimentalparticle and nuclear physics. A recent example: K. Morita et al. : J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. Vol. 73, 2642 (2004) Synthesis of Element 113 in the Reaction 209Bi(70Zn, n)278113 • The advisory members include A. J. Leggett (U. Illinois) and Y. Totsuka (ex-Director of KEK).
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan (JPSJ)online version available from Vol.1 • Unique features (in addition to original papers): (1) “News and Comments” -- commentary on important papers (2) “Papers of Editors’ Choice” (3) “Invited review papers” (4) “Special topics” -- collection of review papers on recent topics • Forthcoming publications in experimental particle physics: 1. Invited review paper “Recent Progress in Neutrino Oscillations” by Y. Suzuki (ICRR, U. Tokyo) et al. 2. Special topics “Elementary Particle Physics: The Standard Model and Beyond”
