What is the itsoclear clasp ?? Itsoclear is a thermoplastic nylon material that is molded into a formed clasp. Warm clasp by lightly waving it over flame. (warning: do not over heat the clasp)
Lightly pass 3 prong plier over flame. (warning: over heating plier will cause indentation in clasp)
Adapt accordingly around tooth by rewarming the 3 prong plier as needed.
After clasp is formed around the tooth begin to create retention.
Form retention by bending a loop at opposite end of clasp to hold in acrylic.
Once retention is formed the clasp is ready to be set in place on frame.
Finally, place acrylic under retentive area and above the clasp so that the clasp will remain in position.
Your partial denture is now ready to be processed as normal.
Form clasp around tooth making sure to lock in at mesial inner proximal by applying pressure with thumb.
Next you will begin creating retention by heating tail of clasp with Blazer micro - torch and pulling tail of clasp inward around the distal inner proximal of tooth.
if you feel as though the tail of clasp is too long cut by warming scissors or knife.
Once retention is formed you can tack clasp in place by using glue or sticky wax. Now your clasp is ready for processing.
Repairs or Replacements Clasps • CUT GROOVE WHERE CLASP IS TO BE FORMED AND CUT A DEEP GROOVE IN RETENTIVE AREA. PROCESS AS NORMAL.
