  3. Ethnocentrism • the belief that one’s own patterns of behavior are always natural, good, beautiful, or important • and that strangers, to the extent that they live differently, live by savage, inhuman, disgusting, or irrational standards Activity: Food as a Window to Culture

  4. Cultural Relativism • Any behavior or belief can only be understood and evaluated in the context of its own culture. Activity: Where Do You Draw The Line?

  5. ADAPTATION/MALADAPTATION • ADAPTATIONS • Behaviors that support the survival and wellness of a people into the future • MALADAPTATIONS • Behaviors that do not support the survival and wellness of a people into the future Activity: Written Response
