JOHN WESLEY: PASSION FOR PURITY (1703-1791) • Had a vision for radical life change (called Christian Perfection). • Took the message of Jesus to the average person. • Rejected institutional Christianity as true Christianity and established a house church network called “classes.” • Accountability, practicality, and clear biblical teaching were central to the house church. • Brother Charles wrote over 9,000 renewal songs. • Tireless in his work,teaching, and travels. • 55,000 - 70,000 members by time of his death.
