Together we will….. • Learn about Youth programs (Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, Four Way Speech Contest, and RYLA) and how they can benefit your club. • Determine how to get your club more involved in Youth programs. • Determine how to promote Rotary in ways that appeal to young people.   3. Service Club for ages 12-18 • Sponsored by a Rotary Club • Meets at least twice a month • Does at least two service projects a year – one local and one international • Challenges and Opportunities in sponsoring an Interact Club Susan Adams Land of Lincoln PETS - March 16-17, 2019

  4. PDG Judy Bush • One of Best Known Programs of Rotary International • Cultural and academic exchange that lasts a full school year • While abroad: • Learn the language and culture • Attend school • Interact with host families and Rotary • Promote Rotary’s goal of world peace and understanding, one person, one exchange at a time Land of Lincoln PETS - March 16-17, 2019

  5. Sponsor an Outbound Student • Assist student with application • Help student prepare for district interview • If chosen, assure student and parent attend district orientation and Central States conference at Grand Rapids – usually in July. • Help student prepare presentation for Rotary club in host country and have them give it to your club. • Present student with club banners to exchange with host club or other clubs. Sponsor an Inbound Student • Find host homes in spring – at least two • Establish school enrollment • Appoint Rotary Counselor • Provide orientation for host family • Contact student and verify arrival details • Monitor student and host family • Make student a welcome visitor at Rotary meetings, provide transportation to Rotary events • Pay school expenses – text rental, lunches • Provide student with monthly spending money - $75 is average Melissa Stone Land of Lincoln PETS - March 16-17, 2019

Loren Snyder Joy Harter • Rotary Youth Leadership • Ages 14-18 – Target is Freshman-Junior Year • Develops skills and character while exposing them • to Rotary’s values of service, high ethical standards, and peace. • Most RYLAs follow a seminar or leadership camp format. • Helps develop the qualities of leadership, citizenship, and personal development among young people Land of Lincoln PETS - March 16-17, 2019

  8. Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest Held each spring, and encourages students to become aware of Rotary and its commitment to leadership and service. The 4-Way Speech should include these principles: Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the Truth? 2. Is it Fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30 • Dedicated to community and international service • Membership totals over 291,000 in more than 9,500 clubs worldwide • Rotaract clubs are self-governing and self-supporting • Can be either university- or community-based • Individual Rotary clubs sponsor Rotaract clubs and offer guidance and support • Rotaract clubs are true “partners in service” and key • members of the family of Rotary.
