Changes from draft-03 • Addressed comments received both at IETF74 and off-line • Sections on protection architecture and network objectives merged into Survivability Framework • Changes to format of the Protection State Coordination (PSC) control packet • Defined the states of the protection and their side-effects on the protocol control unit • Normal state – traffic on working, no protection condition • Protecting state – traffic on recovery path • Unavailable state – no protection available, either due to lockout or failure of recovery path • Additional description of the actions taken for various conditions.
Open issues • Extensions for 1:n in separate draft or within current draft • PSC protocol – • Single phase – immediate switchover -as proposed in current draft • Two phase – switchover only after acknowledgement - as specified in GMPLS segment protection, necessary for 1:n protection
