Project Development Process (Major) Step 7 Develop Preferred Alternative
Structure Type StudyObjective • Select the best Structure Alternative • The study must provide ODOT with all the project constraints, background, facts and insights to support the preferred structure alternative selection. • More upfront preliminary engineering and project team involvement to better assist the design decision making process. • Documentation of the reasoning behind project related decisions
Structure Type StudyWhen Required • Required in the Preferred Alternative Verification review submission for a Major Project (Step 7) • Required in the Minor Project Preliminary Engineering Study review submission (Step 3) • Not required for projects classified as Minimal
Project Development Process Step 7: Develop Preferred Alternative • Based on Agency and Public comments- Recommend preferred alternative • ODOT’s recommendation only. • Submit Preferred Alternative Verification Study-(Design only report L&D 1403.5)
