Formal form Plain Form Irregular Verbs – Just memorize します する きます くる
Vowel/ Regular (-ru ending verbs: Group II) Two types: -iru , -eru For both of these, remove the る ending, and add the suffix. -た -ない -なかった e.g. taberu tabeta okiru okita
Consonant/Semi-regular (-u ending verbs: Group I)Four groups:
The Exceptions to the Rules あります/ある Present Form: nai – ない(not anai) Past form: nakatta –なかった 行(い)きます/行(い)く Past Form: itta –いった (not iita)

Plain form ofな-adjectives Remember this is the same as the copula. Also the ~じゃありません~じゃありませんでした are formal forms.
て-form and ください Remember in the last chapter we spent a lot of time learning how to conjugate plain verbs into the past tense. In particular, the distinction between う and る verbs? Well that will now pay off!!!! To make theて-form, you will change the た/だ toて/で, as in: たべた たべて のんだ のんで
What about the negative? This is simple too. Take the casual negative present tense form and add で たべない たべないで のまない のまないで
