Fees and Financial Aid • E-Bills (paperless tuition bill) will be e-mailed to your UCI e-mail address, around mid-August • Financial aid will be applied to fees automatically if you have enrolled in at least 6 units (need to take a minimum of 12 units) Health Insurance • You are automatically enrolled • You can waive out of the plan if you have comparable coverage • Waiver deadline is Nov. 18th, but take care of this earlier • Complete details can be found at: www.shs.uci.edu

Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree Entry Level Writing: Transfer students are required to have completed Lower-Division writing, including this requirement, before transferring to UCI. 2 semesters or 3 quarters of transferable Composition/Critical Thinking/Reasoning usually fulfills this requirement. American History and Institutions(may be met in several ways): Most students have satisfied this requirement with high school work. International students, see a counselor for information on how to satisfy therequirement. This requirement is not automatically fulfilled with IGETC.
Grade requirement • Minimum grade point average of at least ‘C’ (2.0) is required: • Overall • In all of the courses required for and offered in the major program • In the upper-division courses required for and offered in the major program In any given quarter, if all three of these requirements are not met, you may be subject to probation or disqualification. If your quarterly GPA falls below 2.0, you may be subject to probation or disqualification.
Other Requirements 180 Units: You must complete at least 180 quarter units. (See Residence Requirement below). A maximum of 70 semester units (105 quarter units) can be transferred from a Community College. 1 semester unit = 1.5 quarter units Residence requirement At least 36 of the final 45 units completed by a student for the bachelor's degree must be earned in residence at the UCI campus. Normal progress toward degreeMust follow the program of study required for your major and graduate when done (normally in two years). You are required to enroll full-time (at least 12 units) each quarter, unless you receive permission from a counselor.
GE Requirements IGETC fulfills all requirements, except Upper-Division Writing, which must be done at UCI.

Enrolling in classes: • Students use WebSOC (schedule of classes) and WebReg • Access WebSOC and WebReg at http://www.reg.uci.edu • WebReg requires UCInetID and password • Enrollment • You will enroll in classes today Get courses cleared BEFORE you enroll each quarter!
Using WebREG - http://www.reg.uci.edu/registrar/soc/webreg.html • Sign in… • Click on “Enrollment Menu” • To add or drop: • Choose Add or Drop • Enter 5-digit course code • Click Send • WebSOC - http://websoc.reg.uci.edu/perl/WebSoc • this is where you find the 5-digit Course Codes
You must enroll in ALL components of the class before you sign out of WebREG. • Lecture and Discussion: • Lectures: formal, take notes, taught by Professor • Discussion: may be taught by TA, open atmosphere, ask questions, get help, discussion is mandatory. • Lecture, Discussion and Lab: • -Enroll in all three! • If you don’t enroll in all components, when you sign out of WebREG, it will drop you from everything!
This message indicates the student has not met the prerequisite for the course and should contact an Academic Counselor in the School that the course is offered in.Check the UCI General Catalogue to see if you indeed met the prerequisite for the class, if you met the prerequisite at another college, just let us know and we can clear you to take the class. We can only clear you for Physical Sciences classes (Math, Chem, Earth System Sciences and Physics classes).

You’ll need your UCI Student ID number for this. • Purchase 2008-09 General Catalogue at the UCI bookstore in the Student Center. • Activate UCINetID at: activate.uci.edu • Complete on-line Statement of Legal Residence at: www.reg.uci.edu • Apply for USHIP waiver (Health insurance), if applicable: www.shs.uci.edu • Order parking permit online at: www.parking.uci.edu • Have your official final transcripts sent to UCI Admissions office • Check enrollment time and date at: www.reg.uci.edu/registrar/soc/webreg.html • Work out your winter class schedule at: websoc.reg.uci.edu/perl/WebSoc • Enroll in classes at: www.reg.uci.edu/registrar/soc/webreg.html • PAY FEES!! Deadline is December 15th. You will be dropped from your classes if payment is late.
