Summary/Conclusion • A prototype is one step up from a mockup. It is a working version of the website though incomplete. • Businesses must decide whether to build or buy off the shelf solutions to their business problems. In general, it is best to buy and customize a solution for reasons of cost and ease of maintenance. • If you do decide to build then you will need an authoring tool to simplify the process of website construction. Authoring tools may live on your computer or you can use a cloud based authoring tool such as Google Sites. • Google Sites tries to simplify the development process by providing pre-built templates for different businesses and themes to control the overall look and feel.
Summary/Conclusion • Gadgets are to Google Sites what apps are to the iPhone. • The ability to capture and store customer data using a Google Docs form and Spreadsheet is the first step toward database integration. Full database integration allows you to customize pages for individual customers. • In general corporations tend to be very conservative with respect to software choices. Any change represents potential problems, increased costs, and business disruptions.

Explaining the Security Warning When you insert Google Gadgets in your page, you may see the security warning above. It means that the webpage is delivered over a secure connection but the Gadget is being transmitted over a regular connection. That’s OK. So you should answer “NO” since you want the content from the Gadget to show up on the page as well.
Listing Your App in the Store Listing your App in the store is a two step process. The store must know that your app exists so that it can lead users there (Register app). And your app must know that the store exists so that it can lead users back to the store to complete the transaction (Add a FREE APP button to your website). You register your app by filling out the form on Class App site. However, to add a FREE APP button requires making changes to your site. To add a FREE APP button simply copy the code located on the Class App Store website and use it to create a hyperlink from YOUR site. The hyperlink may just be the words FREE APP as a link. (Making a FREE APP button is harder). To create the link add the text for your link and click the Link icon in the formatting bar. Then under the Web Address section copy > paste the link.
