Alzheimer Disease • Early stage- gradual memory loss. language errors, impaired IADLs, worsening visual spatial-perception • Middle stage- apraxia, disorientation, impaired judgment • Advanced stage- dependent in ADLs, loss of ability to ambulate and swallow

Vascular DementiaNINDS-AIREN • Dementia • Cerebrovascular disease • presence of focal signs on neurologic examination, • evidence of relevant CVD by brain imaging (CT or MRI) • + Relationship between the two • onset of dementia within three months following a stroke • abrupt deterioration in cognitive function or stepwise progression of cognitive deficits.
Frontotemporal DementiaClinical Diagnostic Features • Insidious onset and gradual progression • Early decline in social interpersonal conduct • Early impairment in regulation of personal conduct • Early emotional blunting • Early loss of insight
