Birth • Born in Massachusetts in 1820. • Susan Brownell Anthony is her born name.
Childhood • She was brought up a Quaker. • Learned to read when she was three years old.
Education • In 1826, her family moved from Massachusetts to Battenville, N.Y. where she attended a district school. • She went to boarding school in Pennsylvania. • The teacher refused to teach Susan long division, Susan was taken out of school and taught in a home school set up by her father.
Family • Daniel and Lucy Anthony were Susan’s parents. • Father, Daniel Anthony, was a stern man, a Quaker Abolitionist and a cotton manufacturer. • Mary, Hannah, Eliza, and Guelema, are her sisters.
Adulthood • Taught at a female academy, Eunice Kenyon's Quaker boarding school, in New York from 1846-1849. • Joined temperance movement.
Marriage • She married a man named Cody Stanton. • That year they both attended to the 10th National Woman's Rights Convention.
Remembering Susan B. Anthony • Susan Brownell Anthony is remembered because she fought for women’s rights, and she won it. • It is because if her that women today have equal rights to men.
Important Events • One of the 1st leaders of the campaign for women’s right’s. • 1851 met Elizabeth Cady Stanton. • 1872 voted for president, got arrested.
Interesting! • The most interesting thing about her is that she got arrested, but she kept fighting for women’s freedom! • She also learned to read when she was three years old.
Death • Died March 16, 1906. • She died from pneumonia.
Important Lessons • The 2 most important lessons I learned about the way she lived are that women should get equality to men and it doesn’t matter what happens, just keep going.
Hero or Celebrity? • I think Susan was a hero because she fought, fought, and fought for women’s rights to vote. • A hero is someone that gives lots of effort for something that everyone needs. • A celebrity is someone who is famous. Maybe for a movie or a song. For example, Hannah Montana is a celebrity.
