Background 1992 Solid waste management ordinance adopted 2005 Added “yard trash and land clearing debris recycling facilities” 2012 Environmental Streamlining Task Force recommends: • simplify permitting for yard trash recycling • reduce costs • increase recycling
Background What is yard trash? • Vegetative matter from landscaping maintenance and land clearing operations • Includes materials such as: • trees and tree stumps • shrub trimmings • palm fronds • grass clippings • associated rocks and soils • other vegetation
